I am taking a break from the tomb raider and playing one of my new games called “Thief”.
I am not one of those gamers that play stealthy games however, when I looked at the gameplay something hit me and I had to play it for myself. I am currently one level in and I have to say it is quite amazing. This whole game is about avoiding fights and sneaking around enemies to steal things. Again I am not the one that usually go for these type of games and I have to admit playing the first level took me a couple of hours. But not at all of a disappointment, this game is fun, dark, and very challenging. Oh have I even mentioned about the graphics, freaking awesome! And the intricate puzzle solving tops that tomb raider.
What’s so different about this game is that its use of sound effects, and I mean creepy sounds, which gives the player clues in the surrounding area. Also a key point in the game is the use of lights and dark among your strategies. I have found that walking around blindly gets you caught and killed. So I have been learning how to keep an eye on areas of lights and shadows, learning the guards patrol routes and navigating through buildings and alleyways in search of things to steal. Who knew stealing could be so much fun!
After playing this game for a little while, I did a little research online, to figure out why I didn’t hear about this game before and I soon realized that this game was actually a series that started in the late 90s. From what I read the game started out on the PC and eventually moved to the Xbox system, there were a lot of difficulties and low yield in sales which did not bode well for the game. I am assuming which what brought back this game was the hard-core followers of the characters and plot which yielded its grand return.
I myself am happy that the game made its return so far it is piquing my interest and keeping me entertained. I cannot wait to finish this game and give my full review on what I believe to be a 10 out of 10.
